The American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) has released the 2012 Updated Consensus Guidelines for Managing Abnormal Cervical Cancer Screening Tests and Cancer Precursors.
These guidelines follow adoption of updated cervical cancer screening guidelines (2012), incorporating longer screening intervals and cotesting. Algorithms detailing the different management recommendations were also updated and released. Both guidelines and algorithms may be used by Every Woman Counts providers of cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services.
The Consensus Guidelines were developed by a group of 47 experts representing 23 professional societies, national and international health organizations, and federal agencies. They do not necessarily reflect the official views of the Department of Health Care Services.
The Updated Consensus Guidelines and the Updated Consensus Guidelines Algorithms are accessible from the ASCCP website.
