Consensus Guidelines: Bethesda 2001 Terminology
The Bethesda System 2001 defines terminology for the classification and reporting of cervical cytology and is the current standard for reporting Pap test results. The system was last reviewed and revised in 2001 at a workshop sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and numerous professional societies. According to the NCI, more than 90 percent of laboratories in the United States use the Bethesda System.
